Saint Philomena the Wonder-Worker gives the fascinating story about the saint. St Philomena is perhaps the most extraordinary saint in the history of the Catholic Church. When the relics of this 13-year-old Virgin Martyr were discovered in the Roman Catacombs in 1802, she became almost overnight one of the most powerful saints in the Church, earning the nickname of “The Wonder-Worker” because of the countless remarkable favors that she sent to those who prayed to her.

For a century and a half there was a worldwide Catholic devotion to St. Philomena, approved by many Popes. But amazingly, since the 1960’s, she has been almost forgotten. This little book by the beloved Fr. Paul O’Sullivan—author of All About the Angels, Read Me or Rue It, The Secret of Confession, etc.—gives the fascinating story of St. Philomena.

Fr. O’Sullivan tells of her martyrdom, her miracles, her relics, her partnership with the Cure of Ars, and the great miracle involving Pauling Jaricot, as well as recounting many other true stories of the “dear Little Saint’s” generous answers to those who invoke her. God obviously wishes to give out His gifts and favors through the hands of St. Philomena, and it is His will that we ask her for them.

These pages will give new hope to all who need a special friend in Heaven to answer their prayers. May this little book help to open up the flood-gates of heavenly gifts so that once again this sweet young Saint will become known by that beautiful title: Saint Philomena—The Wonder-Worker!

About the Author

Father Paul O’Sullivan, O.P., was born on February 7, 1871. After studying in Dublin, he went on to Rome, where he was ordained a Dominican. He then pursued a Lectorate degree for theology, which in turn prepared him for his future career in writing simple, profound books and preaching to the faithful. He is the author of How to Be Happy, All About the Angels, The Wonders of the Mass, Read Me or Rue It, An Easy Way to Become a Saint, and The Secret of Confession. Father O’Sullivan also founded the “Catholic Printing Press” and established the Rosary Association, one of several associations he created with the Church’s permission. He wrote on and had a great devotion to St. Philomena as well. He died in 1958, on the Feast of the Presentation.

To thee, O Great St. Philomena, we turn in our afflictions, for thou art truly worthy of the title, “Powerful with God”, who stimulates the faith and courage of the faithful, Pray for us!

St. Philomena, whose name is glorified in Heaven and feared in Hell, Pray for us!

St. Philomena, honoured, invoked, and recommended by Popes Gregory XVI, Ven. Pius IX, Leo XIII, and St. Pius X, Pray for us!

St. Philomena, so powerful with God that thou hast excited the fury of Satan, not only at the time of thy glorious martyrdom, but even today, so that Satan’s servants dared to suppress thy feast so that no public honour should be paid to thee, gain for us by thy merits and prayers a true and holy pope to restore all things to Christ!
