First Mystery: The Resurrection

The Resurrection. Pray for the Spiritual Fruit of the Virtue of faith.

Our Father …

1. It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb.
Hail Mary …

2. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb’ she said ‘and we don’t know where they have put him.’
Hail Mary …

3. So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in.
Hail Mary …

4. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.
Hail Mary …

5. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed. Till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead. The disciples then went home again.
Hail Mary …

6. Meanwhile Mary stayed outside near the tomb, weeping. Then, still weeping, she stooped to look inside, and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head, the other at the feet. They said, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’
Hail Mary …

7. ‘They have taken my Lord away’ she replied ‘and I don’t know where they have put him.’ As she said this she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not recognise him.
Hail Mary …

8. Jesus said, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?’ Supposing him to be the gardener, she said, ‘Sir, if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and remove him’.
Hail Mary …

9. Jesus said, ‘Mary!’ She knew him then and said to him in Hebrew, ‘Rabbuni!’ – which means Master. Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and find the brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’
Hail Mary …

10. So Mary of Magdala went and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had said these things to her.
Hail Mary …

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those who are in most need of thy mercy.

Second Mystery: The Ascension

The Ascension
The Ascension. Pray for the Spiritual Fruit of the Virtue of Hope.

Our Father …

1. In my earlier work, Theophilius, I dealt with everything Jesus had done and taught from the beginning until the day he gave his instructions to the apostles he had chosen through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven.
Hail Mary …

2. He had shown himself alive to them after his Passion by many demonstrations: for forty days he had continued to appear to them and tell them about the kingdom of God.
Hail Mary …

3. When he had been at table with them, he had told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for what the Father had promised.
Hail Mary …

4. ‘It is’ he had said ‘what you have heard me speak about: John baptised with water but you, not many days from now, will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.’
Hail Mary …

5. Now having met together, they asked him, ‘Lord has the time come? Are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’
Hail Mary …

6. He replied, ‘It is not for you to know times or dates that the Father has decided by his own authority’.
Hail Mary …

7. ‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to the ends of the earth’.
Hail Mary …

8. As he said this he was lifted up while they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
Hail Mary …

9. They were still staring into the sky when suddenly two men in white were standing near them and they said, ‘Why are you men from Galilee standing here looking into the sky?
Hail Mary …

10. Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven, this same Jesus will come back in the same way as you have seen him go there.’

The Descent of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the Spiritual Fruit of the Virtue of Love.

Our Father …

1. When Pentecost day came round, they had all met in one room.
Hail Mary …

2. Suddenly they heard what sounded like a powerful wind from heaven, the noise of which filled the entire house in which they were sitting.
Hail Mary …

3. And something appeared to them that seemed like tongues of fire.
Hail Mary …

4. These separated and came to rest on the head of each of them.
Hail Mary …

5. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak foreign languages as the Spirit gave them the gift of speech.
Hail Mary …

6. Now there were devout men living in Jerusalem from every nation under heaven, and at this sound they all assembled, each one bewildered to hear these men speaking his own language.
Hail Mary …

7. They were amazed and astonished. ‘Surely’ they said ‘all these men speaking are Galileans? How does it happen that each of us hears them in his own native language?’
Hail Mary …

8. ‘Parthians, Medes and Elamites; people from Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya round Cyrene; as well as visitors from Rome – Jews and proselytes alike – Cretans and Arabs; we hear them preaching in our own language about the marvels of God.’
Hail Mary …

9. Everyone was amazed and unable to explain it; they asked one another what it all meant. Some, however, laughed it off. ‘They have been drinking too much new wine’ they said.
Hail Mary …

10. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven and addressed them in a loud voice: This is what the prophet spoke of: In the days to come, I will pour out my spirit on all mankind. Their sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. Even on my slaves, men and women, in those days, I will pour out my spirit. I will display portents in heaven above and signs on earth below. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great Day of the Lord dawns. All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Hail Mary …

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

2. Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, adorned with the sun, standing on the moon, and with the twelve stars on her head for a crown.
