The Chaplet of Conversion

Chaplet of Conversion
Jesus appears to the disciples (watercolor) by William Hole. Public domain.

“But rise up, and stand upon thy feet: for to this end have I appeared to thee, that I may make thee a minister, and a witness of those things which thou hast seen, and of those things wherein I will appear to thee,
Delivering thee from the people, and from the nations, unto which now I send thee:
To open their eyes, that they may be converted from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and a lot among the saints, by the faith that is in me.” Acts 26:16-18.

Every year, from the feast of St Peter’s Chair at Rome on January 18, to the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul on January 25, we observe a special week of prayer for the conversion of non-Catholics to the Faith. Let us pray for the conversion of all protestant sects, for the conversion of the Jews, for the conversion of the Muslims, for the conversion of Freemasons, Occult and New Age Sects, for the conversion of Vatican II Catholics who accept ecumenism with non-Catholic religions (condemned in Mortalium animos), religious liberty and indifferentism (condemned in Mirari Vos and Quanta Cura), conciliarism (condemned in Execrabilis),  modernism (condemned in Pascendi dominici gregis and Lamentabili Sane), communion in the hand (condemned as an abuse), patently phony annulments, and all who reject the true sacraments back to Biblical Christianity and Tradition.

The Chaplet of Conversion was requested by Our Lady for the conversion of souls of the world in these perilous times. It was given to a chosen soul in Ireland, with the request that it be prayed widely. Our Lady also appeared in October 1859 to a 28 year old Belgian immigrant at Champion, Wisconsin, near Green Bay. Our Lady of Champion is an approved Marian apparition.

“I am the Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners, and I wish you to do the same. You received Holy Communion this morning and that is well. But you must do more. Make a general confession and offer Communion for the conversion of sinners. If they do not convert and do penance, my Son will be obliged to punish them.” — Our Lady of Champion to Adele.

How to Pray the Chaplet of Conversion

The chaplet of conversion is made up of a Crucifix, three small beads, and five sets of five small beads separated by five large beads. There are 33 beads in all.

Pray the Chaplet of Conversion
The Chaplet of Conversion

On the crucifix:
Apostles Creed – for the unbelievers of the world.

On the 1st bead:
Our Father – for the grace of conversion for the world

On the 2nd bead:
Hail Mary – to honor the Father for the exaltation of Mary, a mere creature, and choosing to honor her with the titles: Queen of Heaven and Mediatrix of all graces.

On the 3rd bead:
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!  To thee do we cry,  poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.  Amen

On the centerpiece:
O Holy Mother of Mercy, I join you at the foot of your Son’s Cross to implore mercy and conversion [Make your intention …for the soul of NN, for the souls of the world, poor heretics and schismatics, etc.].  With you, I offer the Wounds of your Son, Jesus, to the Father, in atonement for the sins of the world past, present and to come.

On the large beads:
Through the Sorrowful, Bleeding, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and in union with the suffering of her Son, Jesus, on the Cross, I implore of the Father, the grace of the conversion for the world.

On the small beads:
Hail Mary – in honor of Mary’s Tears of Sorrow
Holy Mother Mary, Mediatrix of all graces, obtain for us from God, the conversion of the world.

After the 5th Decade:
Glory Be – in honor of the Blessed Trinity

Conclude with:
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope!  To thee do we cry,  poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.  Amen
